A crisp shell, a crunchy chocolate biscuit, and a melting heart... With Eugénie, Ladurée has created a delicacy unlike any other, instantly recognizable by its shape, its colors, and its unique balance of textures. Now available in eight iconic flavors and reimagined each season in limited editions, this signature chocolate biscuit elegantly reinterprets the art of indulgence with generosity and character.
The conception of Eugénie explores novel textures and flavours. Each element, from the intensely chocolate shell to the smooth insert, demonstrates a meticulous quest for perfect balance. The carefully selected chocolate of the shell offers a seductive contrast with the sweetness of the heart, revealing a biscuit of captivating finesse and originality.
Created by Julien Alvarez, Pastry Chef of Maison Ladurée, Eugénie was born from the desire to create an indulgence entirely of its own. Every detail has been carefully designed to give it a distinctive identity: a perfectly round shape, vibrant pop colours and the Ladurée monogram delicately embossed on its surface. Over time, Eugénie has established itself as one of the House’s signature creations, a biscuit whose name is as memorable as its taste.
Perfect for an elegant afternoon break, Eugénie is Ladurée’s signature chocolate biscuit, available in eight signature flavours: Pistachio, Vanilla, Rose, Passion Fruit, Caramel, Chocolate, Strawberry and Hazelnut. For the Autumn 2026 season, discover two limited edition creations: Blackcurrant & Violet and Tarte Tatin Apple.
Eugénie is crafted as a refined interplay of textures and flavours, where every layer contributes to a harmonious tasting experience. The rich chocolate coating brings depth and intensity, while the delicate creamy centre adds softness and balance. Together, they unveil a biscuit that is both elegant, distinctive, and irresistibly indulgent.

Eugénie doesn't just sound elegant, it borrows its name from Empress Eugénie de Montijo, a contemporary of Louis-Ernest Ladurée, who opened the house's first Paris bakery in 1862. A patron of the arts and something of a trendsetter in her own right, the Empress represents the kind of bold, forward-looking woman Ladurée has chosen to celebrate through this creation, a quiet nod to a golden era of Paris the house has always considered part of its own story.
Round, colourful and stamped with a crowned “L,” Eugénie borrows its shape from Ladurée’s most famous creation, the macaron, while carving out an identity entirely its own. Each box from the permanent collection is dressed in a reimagined toile de Jouy pattern. It’s the kind of detail that rewards a closer look, and part of why Eugénie tends to catch the eye before it reaches the palate.
Eugénie is presented in a palette of delicate flavours that have helped shape Ladurée’s reputation, reinterpreted with a contemporary sensibility.
Vanilla: A delicate, fragrant centre infused with Madagascar vanilla, expressing its richness with elegant intensity.
Caramel: A comforting indulgence, where the smooth, buttery notes of salted caramel meet the crispness of milk chocolate.
Chocolate: A crisp dark chocolate shell, a caramel centre made with 68% Nyangbo chocolate, and a sablé biscuit for an intensely chocolatey experience.
The permanent collection also includes Pistachio, Rose, Strawberry, Hazelnut and Passion Fruit.
Eugénie sits within a wider world of chocolate biscuits at Ladurée, alongside familiar names like the Langues de Chat. What sets it apart is texture, where most biscuits offer one bite, Eugénie offers three in one: a crisp sablé, a soft centre, and the snap of a chocolate shell. It's this layering that has made it one of the house's most talked-about creations since its debut in 2023.
Indulge in our chocolates“With Eugénie, I wanted to create an indulgent treat that is instantly recognizable, both through its appearance and the pleasure it brings from the very first bite.”
